Persian Kotlet/Cutlet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (you can also do 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 ground turkey
  • 1.5 russet potatoes. Steamed, skinned and grated
  • 1 yellow onion, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together all of the ingredients well.
  2. Make small oval-shaped patties.
  3. Heat up a medium/large sized pan on medium heat with some vegetable oil
  4. Add each cutlet and cook on both sides until golden brown on each side.

Serve with sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, persian pickles, variation of sabzi (mint, basil, cilantro, radish), persian bread (sangak, lavash or barbari),
